New Wave Dive Center continues to have a long standing relationship with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Dive Team since its conception in 1993. Many of the Instructors, Assistant Instructors, and Divemasters at New Wave are members of this organization and aid in the up keep and training of the team.

Open Water Training can be done on these days and locations (Call to Sign up) and we run private classes for 4 or more people and we will train you in your pool as long as it is 6 feet or deeper.

Most all open water trainings run for five weeks or over three weekends. The Open water dives take place at White Star Park in Gibsonburg, Ohio Or Gilboa Quarry in Gilboa, Ohio. We begin these dives in late April early may depending on water temp.. If you are planning on a trip to do your diving and need to be done sooner we can do all you book and confined water training at one of our many locations. Then when you complete your confined water training we can give you a referral form to take on your trip and do your open water dives with another PADI Instructor on your trip. There are many ways to schedule and complete your training call or stop by to find out how easy it is to get certified to explore the underwater world.

The New State of the art Emergency First Response training can be run at anytime. This is for diver and non-divers. This is a 2 part training program part one is CPR training and part two is First Aid training with optional AED (automatic external deliberator) and O2. So call to set up time and date we have 8 Instructor to help you.

Waiting until your surface interval just to communicate can be frustrating. Whether you are having a problem or just want to point out something cool, keeping good communication with your buddy can make the difference between an "okay" dive and a "great" fun and safe dive.

Communication alternatives have limitations.

There are many forms of underwater communication on the market today, such as specialized gear and slates. Special gear is very expensive. Using slates can be awkward and slow. Even the hand signals commonly taught lack an adequate vocabulary to truly communicate effectively. Hand signals also can vary widely between agencies which can create confusion between two divers trained by different agencies.
